Saratoga, NY, August 2006 - The fastest rising star on the American horseracing scene is a 23 year-old French apprentice jockey who only started racing professionally a year ago.

Julien Leparoux is the leading jockey in the country by number of wins. He is also the "winning-est" jockey in the country (highest percentage of winning starts). He just beat the Turfway Park record for number of wins. He is co-record holder at Keeneland. He had 14 wins during Kentucky Derby week. He ended on top at Churchill Downs.

He left Chantilly for the US in 2003 after obtaining his baccalaureate. Joining French trainer Patrick Biancone stables, he worked as a practice rider for 2 years before getting his first race in August 2005.

Very hard working, totally focused on racing, unfazed by his successes and always positive, he has become a much loved member of the close-knit racing community.

He is currently on track for the national best jockey title and the apprentice Eclipse Award.
